On 14.05.2025 at 18:00 s.t. in room 03.103 at Wittelsbacherplatz, Prof. Dr. Carola Klöck (SciencesPo Paris) will give a lecture on the topic “Small states, big impact? How small (island) states assert themselves at the UN climate negotiations”.
Although small states are formally equated to large states such as Germany at the UN, they have far fewer resources and personnel. Some microstates have fewer inhabitants than Würzburg! How do you make your voice heard under these circumstances? What challenges do small and microstates face at the annual climate summits, the COPs, and what strategies do they use to tackle them? These questions will be explored in the lecture.
The events of the Forum Sustainability will be organized in interdisciplinary cooperation with the Chair of Social Science Sustainability Research, the Chair of Public Law and International Economic Law, the Department of Political Theory and the Chair of International Relations and European Studies.
We look forward to your participation and a lively exchange!
