Solidarische Aneignung von Wissen – die brasilianische Bäuer*innen-Universität Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul als Vorbild für eine nachhaltige Transformation?

Date: 06/06/2023, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Category: Vortrag
Location: Wittelsbacherplatz 1, Hybrid: Room 00.113d + Online via Zoom
Organizer: Forum Nachhaltigkeit
Speaker: Dr. Antônio Inácio Andrioli

The event will be held in German. A university that focuses on sustainability. An interdisciplinary curriculum where students have a direct say. A cafeteria where 30% of the food comes directly from local farmers.

This is everyday life at the Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS), a Brazilian state university that was built largely by small farmers, indigenous peoples and the landless.

How do different kinds of knowledge enter into dialogue and how does new knowledge emerge? How can a university function without the demarcation of individual disciplines? And what role does the change of government at the beginning of the year play in this?

This is what Dr. Antônio Inácio Andrioli will discuss with you. He is the former vice president of Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS) in Brazil and currently a visiting scholar at the Center for Sustainable Society Research at the University of Hamburg.

The main focus will be on how agroecology can contribute to the practical implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The event is part of the lecture series ‘Transformative sustainability knowledge in the area of tension between normativity and normality’ of the Forum Nachhaltigkeit. It is sponsored by the Human Dynamics Centre of JMU. Credits can be earned through JMU's GSiK program
