Workshop Panel: "Gender, BRICS and G20 – Contested Norms and Categories in Global Governance"

In February 2024, the ICAS:MP workshop "The Lens of Gender: Refiguration of Categories" took place at India International Centre in New Delhi. In this framework, Dr. Philipp Gieg from IPS and Prof. Ummu Salma Bava from JNU New Delhi convened a panel on "Gender, BRICS and G20 – Contested Norms and Categories in Global Governance" on 27 February 2024.

ICAS:MP Cross-Modular Conference 2024: "The World After the Pandemic"

In February 2024, the ICAS:MP Cross-Modular Conference 2024 under the title ‘The World After the Pandemic’ took place in Delhi. Dr. Philipp Gieg from IPS attended the conference and presented his research.


Workshop: "The Challenge of Gender"

In July 2023, the ICAS:MP workshop "The Challenge of Gender" took place in Würzburg. Researchers from India and Germany as well as international guests discussed in three panels, among others, "International Organizations and the Promotion of Gender Equality" or "Gender, Violence and the Complexities of Law".


Workshop: "Listen to the Global South! Uncovering the Roles of Southern Actors in Writing Global Gender Norms"

Experts from Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe met in December 2021 to discuss the role of actors from the Global South in writing global gender norms. Within the framework of the Indo-German ICAS:MP Centre of Advanced Studies, the virtual workshop was organized by Anja Zürn, Philipp Gieg, Timo Lowinger (IPS India Forum), Soumita Basu (South Asian University, New Delhi) and Peace Medie (University of Bristol).

In our expert webinar on 22 April 2021, the editors and contributors to the new book "EU-India Relations – The Strategic Partnership in the Light of the European Union Global Strategy" offered different perspectives on EU-India relations in 2021 and discussed the state of the strategic partnership. Workshop: India and the European Union – Joining Forces on the Global Scene?

Can India and the EU join forces on the global scene – and if so how and in which fields? An international experts’ workshop held at the University of Würzburg tackled these very questions. In several panels which revolved around the topics of climate policy, development cooperation, security, and economic relations, international researchers debated foundations, perspectives, and global ambitions of EU-India relations.


„Power politics are back“ – Keynote Address by Dr. Giovanni Grevi at the workshop "India and the EU"

On 20 November 2019,  Dr Giovanni Grevi, Head of the Europe in the World Programme at European Policy Centre in Brussels, delivered the keynote address “Europe in the World. Strategic Autonomy and Partnership” of the workshop  “In the Light of the EU’s Global Strategy: India and the European Union – Joining Forces on the Global Scene?“.


Workshop and Lectures in Delhi

In the context of the project "Foundations of the Indo-European Strategic Partnership". the second part of the workshop on "Constitutional Democracy" took place in Delhi on March 15th and 16th, 2018. PD Dr. Becker also visited Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia.


Lecture: The UN Security Council in a ‘Re-nationalising’ World: Implications for Gender Politics

On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, Dr. Soumita Basu, visiting professor at IPS India Forum, gave a talk on "The UN Security Council in a ‘Re-nationalising’ World: Implications for Gender Politics".


Workshop: Constitutional Democracy

The workshop „Constitutional Democracy“ that took place on 7th and 8th December 2017 is part of an ongoing research project on Constitutional Democracies in a comparative perspective undertaken by Dr. Michael Becker of Julius Maximilian University (JMU) Würzburg and Dr. Anupama Roy of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi.


Workshop: Prevent, Protect, Participate! Women’s Roles in Peace and Security

Renowned experts from Europe and India met for the international ICAS:MP workshop "Prevent, Protect, Participate! Women’s Roles in Peace and Security" on November 30 and December 1, 2017, at the University of Würzburg.


Panel Discussion: German Foreign Policy from Near and Abroad

On May 18, 2017, Prof. Ummu Salma Bava from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi and Prof. Gisela Müller-Brandeck-Bocquet from IPS Würzburg held a panel discussion on contemporary German foreign relations.


IPSA 2016: India Forum at the 24th World Congress of Political Science in Poznań

From July 23 to 28, 2016, the 24th World Congress of Political Science took place in Poznań (Poland), organised by the International Political Science Association (IPSA). Members of the IPS India Forum and their Indian partners presented their India-related reserach.


Panel Discussion: The Paris Agreement under Discussion

Under the title “The Paris Agreement – Achievements and Shortcomings”, Indian guest professor and political scientist Prof. Sanjay Chaturvedi from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and climatologist Prof. Heiko Paeth from the University of Würzburg discussed their perspectives on the Agreement. The debate was organized by the IPS Indie Forum and was chaired by Prof. Gisela Müller-Brandeck-Bouquet, professor for European Studies and International Relations.


Conference: Exploring Emerging India

The India Forum of the Institute for Political Science and Sociology organized the conference “Exploring Emerging India” on Tuesday, 17 July 2014, at the Frankenwarte in Würzburg.
