Working Group on State and Regime Research

Research on political regimes – including political transformation, democracy and autocracy, and the measurement of democracy – as well as theoretical and empirical research on the state and (fragile) statehood have become a major focus of research and teaching at the Institute of Political Science and Sociology. These thematic priorities are reflected in publications, research projects, conference presentations, doctoral research, and courses.

The Working Group on State and Regime Research aims to communicate the resulting findings and their scholarly implications both within the Institute and to the wider academic community and the public. Central to its work are collegial exchange across the various teaching and research areas represented at the Institute and collaboration on joint projects, particularly through sharing, discussing, and developing ideas in these fields.
