German-Polish Perspectives on EU-India Relations
09/30/2026On 28 September 2026, Dr. Philipp Gieg moderated a closed-door expert roundtable in Berlin on the EU-India Free Trade Agreement and its implications for Germany and Poland. The event was jointly organised by the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) and the Bavarian Scientific Alliance for Peace, Conflict and Security Research (FoKS) at PISM’s Berlin office.
Dr. Bettina Rudloff and Dr. Tobias Scholz from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), alongside Dr. Patryk Kugiel (PISM), introduced economic, political and strategic perspectives. The subsequent discussion covered opportunities for businesses, competition and the role of European supply chains, as well as connectivity, energy and climate policy, and the geopolitical significance of the EU-India strategic partnership.
The event was opened by Małgorzata Gemen, Director of PISM’s Berlin office. Afterwards, she and Dr. Timo Lowinger, FoKS’s Scientific Coordinator, joined Patryk Kugiel and Philipp Gieg to explore opportunities for further cooperation. Their conversation focused on expanding German-Polish academic exchange on European foreign, security and defence policy, as well as EU-India relations.
