Philipp Gieg awarded the Prize of the Lower Franconian Memorial Year Foundation for Science

The Lower Franconian Memorial Year Foundation for Science (Unterfränkische Gedenkjahrstiftung für Wissenschaft) has awarded Philipp Gieg from the Jean Monnet Chair at IPS for his doctoral thesis on India's Africa policy.

Philipp Gieg is a postdoctoral researcher and member of faculty at the Jean Monnet Chair for European Studies and International Relations. He wrote his dissertation with the title "India's Africa Policy – The Economisation and Modi-fication of a Millennia-Old Relationship" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gisela Müller-Brandeck-Bocquet.

On the occasion of the foundation ceremony of the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, the President of the Government of Lower Franconia Dr. Eugen Ehmann and the President of the University of Würzburg Prof. Dr. Alfred Forchel honored 20 doctoral students of the University of Würzburg for their outstanding dissertations.

Every year, the foundation awards prizes for outstanding scientific achievements in the fields of the humanities, natural sciences and medicine that come from Lower Franconia and serve to enhance the reputation of Lower Franconia. The award requires that the dissertation has received the best possible grade of "summa cum laude".
