As part of the Sustainability Forum's series of events in the 2026 summer term, Marc Engelhardt (Weltreporter) and Dr. Christoph Mohamad-Klotzbach (JMU) will discuss the book “The Climate Warriors: Ideas for Saving the Global Climate”.

The discussion of the book “The Climate Warriors: Ideas for Saving the Global Climate” will take place online via Zoom on July 1st, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. (c.t.).  

Book Summary: People around the world are suffering from the effects of climate change, such as thawing permafrost, droughts, wildfires and flodds. The impacts vary widley, as do the responses to these changes. Rather than burying their heads in the sand, people everywhere are creatively seeking ways to promote sustainability, wether through more sustainable economic practices or a more mindful use of resources.

The book “The Climate Warriors: Ideas for Saving the Global Climate” draws on numerous reports to highlight many examples of the resilience and determination of people around the world, with the aim of inspiring and encouraging readers. As part of this event, the book’s editor, journalist Marc Engelhardt (Weltreporter), Dr. Christoph Mohamad-Klotzbach (Chair of Social Science Sustainability Research) and students from the master’s seminar “Governance of Sustainability – Actors, Politics, and Policy” will discuss the ideas presented in the book and their significance for both academia and practice. The event is also supported by the Sustainability Forum and is therefore opent to anyone interested in joining the discussion or simply seeking inspiration.

The event can also be credited towards the GSiK Certificate in Sustainability and Global Responsibility!

The events will be organized in interdisciplinary cooperation with the Chair of Social Science Sustainability Research, the Department of Political Theory, the Chair of International Relations and European Studies, the Chair of Public Law and International Economic LawChair of Human Geography and the WueLAB.
