This agreement will facilitate closer cooperation between the partners.

The Memorandum of Understanding had been initiated by Prof. Gisela Müller-Brandeck-Bocquet (Professorship of European Studies and International Relations, IPS) and Prof. Hans Fehr (Chair of Public Finance, Faculty of Business Management and Economics) as well as Prof. Sanjay Chaturvedi and Prof. Upinder Sawhney (both from Panjab University). Its main aim is to intensify the exchange between the two universities within the next three years. According to the agreement, increased cooperation in research activities and the organisation of common conferences as well as joint research projects are planned. There will also be more research trips for both staff and students at the partner universities.

The Memorandum of Understanding institutionalises the already existing cooperation between IPS and Panjab University Chandigarh: As a guest professor, Prof. Sanjay Chaturvedi visited our Institute during last year’s summer term; he will return to Würzburg in summer 2016. In summer 2015, Prof. Müller-Brandeck-Bocquet, PD Dr. Michael Becker and Philipp Gieg visited Panjab University as guest lecturers.
