05/20/2026

The Diplomat has just published a new article by Philipp Gieg (IPS) and Barnaby Dye (King’s College London and DGAP) on the upcoming 4th India-Africa Forum Summit. The article examines the geopolitical significance of the summit and discusses why India is hosting a high-level Africa summit in New Delhi again for the first time in eleven years.

Under the title “India Is Hosting the 4th India-Africa Forum Summit: Why Now and What to Expect?”, Dr. Philipp Gieg and Dr. Barnaby Dye argue that the summit reflects both a changing international environment and India’s growing engagement with the Global South. The article also discusses expectations surrounding the summit, as well as the challenges and opportunities for India-Africa relations in an increasingly fragmented international order.

Barnaby Dye will be a guest at IPS on June 15, 2026, where he will give a guest lecture followed by a discussion on India-Africa relations.
