The Institute of Political Science and Sociology is seeking to fill a position of a PhD Student (m/f/d) on a part-time basis (50%) at the Chair of Social Science Sustainability Studies, starting as soon as possible. The position is initially limited to 2 years (with the option for extension).

Team members of the Chair of International Relations and European Studies at IPS are calling for papers for four planned panels at the Open Conference of the International Relations Section of the German Political Science Association (DVPW), to be held in Würzburg from 21–23 September 2026.

What role do Small Island States play in current international debates on climate, the environment, and ecocide? Jun.-Prof. Ulrike Zeigermann and Dr. Philipp Gieg explore this question in their article "Judicialization as contestation: Ecocide, the small island states, and the international politics of environmental justice", which has just been published in Environment and Planning E: Nature and Space.
