Visiting Lecturers from India 2013

Prof. Dr. Ummu Salma Bava

After coming to Würzburg during the Summer Semester 2012, Prof. Bava visited the Institute for Political Science and Sociology during the Summer Semester 2013 for the second time as a visiting Professor. 

The students once again had the opportunity to discuss and analyze current topics in the field of International Politics as well as the International Role of India with the renowned Indian visiting lecturer. Prof. Bava taught two Bachelor advanced modules as well as a Master Seminar.

Prof. Bava teaches and does research as a Professor for European Studies at JNU in New Delhi. She is the director of the Europe Area Studies Programme as well as the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies. In January 2012 she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her personal effort in building German-Indian Relations, which she further demonstrated through her engagement in Würzburg.  

Prof. Dr. Anupama Roy

Prof. Dr. Anupama Roy is a Professor at the Centre for Political Studies at Jawaharlal-Nehru University in New Delhi (JNU). She was a guest at the Institute in June and July 2013. 

Prof. Roy took part in the Master Seminar “Normative Political Theory with PD Dr. Michael Becker. The topic of the classes were the similarities and differences between Constitutionalism in the North (or the West) and Constitutionalism in the South.

Dr. Jayaraj Amin

Dr. Jayaraj Amin from the Department of Political Science at Mangalore University took part in numerous courses at the Department for European Studies and International Relations. Dr. Amin was a guest at the Institute in November and December 2013. 

He lectured on the topics, among others, India’s Policy at the UN, Indian-African Relations, and India and the BRICS countries.

Dr. Krishna Swamy Dara

Dr. Krishna Swamy Dara teaches at the Department for Political Theory at the Jamia Millia Islamia (Islamic University) in New Delhi. He was a guest at the Institute in November and December 2013. 

Dr. Rinku Lamba

Dr. Rinku Lamba is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Political Studies at the Jawaharlal-Nehru University in New Delhi (JNU). She was a guest at the Institute in January and February 2013. 

Dr. Lamba led the Workshop “Aspekte politischen Denkens in Indien- Aspects of Political Thought in India”. At the center of the Workshop was transcultural comparative political theory. Among other topics, the foundations and concepts of Political Thought in India and Europe were looked at as well as the question of if there was ever an exchange of a history of ideas between the two subcontinents.
