How do literature, music, and politics negotiate the complex power relations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo? On 14 January 2026, the Africa Competence Centre (ACCUW), together with the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, invited audiences to an evening rich in perspectives. Following a thematic introduction by Dr. Philipp Gieg, an interdisciplinary panel discussed how cultural forms of expression can reshape resistance and participation.

Im Rahmen des Theorie-Kolloquiums spricht Prof. Dr. Manon Westphal (TUM) am 4. Februar 2026 um 18 Uhr in Raum 00.113d zum Thema "Bürgerräte, Tribunate, und Mehrebenenmodelle: Neue Perspektiven für demokratische Innovationen".

Prof. Dr. Giorgi Gvalia (Ilia State University, Tbilisi, Georgia), Maximilian Hartl (Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies Regensburg), Prof. Dr. Sonja Grimm (JMU Würzburg),  a student activist from a Georgian student organization and Dr. Elena Dück (JMU Würzburg, chair of discussion) discussed Democratic Regression, "Foreign Agents" and External Pressure in the Southern Caucasus.
