As part of the event series of the Forum Sustainability, Dr. Eva Krick will give a lecture on “Environmental expertise in participation processes”.
On 20.05.2025 at 18:00 s.t. in room 03.103 (Wittelsbacherplatz) the lecture by Dr. Eva Krick of the Johannes-Gutenberg-University Mainz on the topic “Environmental expertise in participation processes” will take place.
This lecture will address the question of who can actually be considered a climate expert and what constitutes climate expertise. Amid social trends such as the participatory turn and an increasing “epistemization” of the political, the question is how the quality and reliability of knowledge can be determined, especially if we take a broad concept of knowledge as a basis, which includes experiential knowledge as well as 'know-how'. For example, can the “lived experience” of flood victims be recognized as expertise in the field of climate protection?
The events of the Forum Sustainability will be organized in interdisciplinary cooperation with the Chair of Social Science Sustainability Research, the Chair of Public Law and International Economic Law, the Department of Political Theory and the Chair of International Relations and European Studies.
We look forward to your participation and a lively exchange!
